Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be met by a representative of your tour operator who will transfer you to your hotel.
Day 2: Addis Ababa City Tour
Explore Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. Visit the National Museum, which houses the famous Lucy, the 3.2 million-year-old hominid, and other artifacts. You will also visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the largest Orthodox church in Ethiopia, and the Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa.
Day 3: Fly to Lalibela
Fly to Lalibela, a small town in northern Ethiopia famous for its rock-cut churches. Visit the first group of churches, which includes the famous Bete Medhane Alem, a massive monolithic church.
Day 4: Lalibela Church Tour
Visit the second group of churches, which includes Bete Giyorgis, the most famous of all the churches and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, visit the third group of churches, which includes Bete Amanuel and Bete Maryam.
Day 5: Fly to Bahir Dar
Fly to Bahir Dar, a city on the southern shore of Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. Visit the Blue Nile Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Africa.
Day 6: Lake Tana Monastery Tour
Take a boat trip on Lake Tana and visit the island monasteries. You will visit Ura Kidane Mehret, one of the most beautiful monasteries, and Azwa Mariam, which has some of the most impressive frescoes.
Day 7: Drive to Gondar
Drive to Gondar, a city famous for its 17th-century castles and palaces. Visit the Royal Enclosure, which includes several castles, the bath of Emperor Fasiladas, and the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its ceiling painted with angels.
Day 8: Simien Mountains National Park
Drive to the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its stunning landscapes, wildlife, and trekking opportunities. You will have a chance to see the Gelada baboons, the Ethiopian wolf, and the Walia ibex, a rare species of mountain goat. Return to Gondar for your departure flight.
