This is a 7-Day Stunning World Heritage and Historical Tour covering Addis Ababa , Gondar , Simien Mountains NP, Bahir Dar , Lalibela , Addis at a cost of $1,850. Below is the best Itinerary that helps you explore these destinations on a safari starting from Addis Ababa.
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be met by your tour guide who will transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you will have a city tour of Addis Ababa, including a visit to the National Museum, where you will see the famous hominid fossil known as Lucy. You will also visit the Ethnographic Museum, which displays the culture and traditions of the different ethnic groups in Ethiopia.
Day 2: Gondar
After breakfast, you will take a flight to Gondar, the former capital of Ethiopia. In Gondar, you will visit the Royal Enclosure, which contains several castles and palaces from the 17th and 18th century. You will also visit the Debre Birhan Selassie church, famous for its ceiling paintings.
Day 3: Simien Mountains National Park
Today you will drive to the stunning Simien Mountains National Park, where you will spend the night. The park is home to several endemic species, including the Gelada baboon and the Ethiopian wolf. You will have the opportunity to do some trekking and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains.
Day 4: Bahir Dar
After breakfast, you will drive to Bahir Dar, a city located on the shore of Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. In Bahir Dar, you will take a boat trip to visit some of the monasteries located on the islands of Lake Tana, including Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam.
Day 5: Lalibela
Today you will take a flight to Lalibela, home to the famous rock-hewn churches. Lalibela is considered one of the world's greatest architectural wonders and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will visit the 11 churches, including Bete Giyorgis, the most famous of all the churches.
Day 6: Lalibela
Today you will have a second day to explore Lalibela and its surroundings. You can visit the Yemrehanna Kristos church, located in a cave and decorated with beautiful frescoes. You can also hike to the Asheton Maryam monastery, located on a hill overlooking Lalibela.
Day 7: Addis Ababa
After breakfast, you will take a flight back to Addis Ababa, where you will have the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner with traditional Ethiopian cuisine and cultural dance performances. You will then be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
