Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Addis Ababa. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the city and visit some of its attractions such as the National Museum, Ethnographic Museum, or the Merkato, one of the largest open-air markets in Africa. Overnight in Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Debre Berhan – Menze Guassa
After breakfast, you will drive to Menze Guassa via Debre Berhan. You will stop at Debre Berhan to visit the 16th-century church of Selassie, which is known for its colorful murals and frescoes. You will then continue driving to Menze Guassa, which is located in the heart of the Guassa plateau, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve. Upon arrival, you will take a short hike to explore the area and spot some of its endemic wildlife, including the Ethiopian wolf, gelada baboon, and the rare Abyssinian hare. Overnight in Menze Guassa.
Day 3: Menze Guassa – Sanetti Plateau – Goba
After breakfast, you will drive to the Sanetti Plateau, which is part of the Bale Mountains National Park, the largest afro-alpine habitat in Africa. The plateau is home to the Ethiopian wolf, as well as other endemic species such as the Bale monkey and the giant mole rat. You will have the opportunity to explore the area on foot and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, you will drive to Goba, a small town located at the foot of the Bale Mountains. Overnight in Goba.
Day 4: Goba – Sof Omar – Awash National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to the Sof Omar Cave, one of the longest cave systems in Africa. The cave is located in the Bale Mountains and is known for its stunning rock formations and underground river. You will then continue driving to Awash National Park, which is located in the Great Rift Valley. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including the oryx, kudu, and baboon. You will take a game drive in the park and visit the Awash Falls, one of the main attractions of the park. Overnight in Awash National Park.
Day 5: Awash National Park – Addis Ababa and Departure
After breakfast, you will drive back to Addis Ababa. Depending on your departure time, you may have the opportunity to visit some of the city's attractions or do some last-minute shopping before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
