Day 1: Addis Ababa
Arrive in Addis Ababa and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Visit the National Museum of Ethiopia, where you can see the famous Lucy skeleton, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the burial place of Emperor Haile Selassie.
Day 2: Awash National Park
After breakfast, drive to Awash National Park, located about 250 km east of Addis Ababa. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including baboons, warthogs, and gazelles. Upon arrival, go on a game drive and a hike to the Awash Falls.
Day 3: Awash National Park
Spend the day exploring more of Awash National Park. Go on a morning game drive and a visit to the hot springs. In the afternoon, hike to the Fentale Crater, a volcanic crater that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 4: Harar
After breakfast, drive to Harar, one of the oldest cities in Ethiopia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Harar Jugol, the walled city that contains over 80 mosques and shrines, and the Harar Museum, which showcases the city’s rich history and culture.
Day 5: Harar
Spend the day exploring Harar further. Visit the Hyena Man, who feeds wild hyenas by hand every night, and the colorful markets of Harar, where you can find everything from spices to textiles. In the evening, enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony before departing back to Addis Ababa.
