Day 1: Addis Ababa - Awash National Park
In the morning, leave Addis Ababa and drive to Awash National Park. The park is located about 225km east of Addis Ababa and takes around 4 hours to reach. After arriving, you will have lunch at the lodge and then set out for an afternoon game drive in the park. Look out for wildlife such as baboons, warthogs, oryx, gazelles, and possibly even lions and leopards. In the evening, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Awash National Park - Harar
After breakfast, depart Awash National Park and drive to Harar. The drive takes around 5 hours and you will pass through beautiful countryside scenery. Upon arrival in Harar, check in to your hotel and have lunch. In the afternoon, explore the old walled city of Harar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the colorful markets, the traditional houses, and see the famous hyena feeding ceremony. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Harar City Tour
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the city of Harar. Visit the Harari Museum, the house of the French poet Arthur Rimbaud, and the 16th century Grand Mosque. In the afternoon, take a walk along the city walls and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Harar - Addis Ababa
After breakfast, depart Harar and drive back to Addis Ababa. The drive takes around 8 hours and you will pass through the beautiful highland scenery of eastern Ethiopia. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be taken to your hotel or the airport for your onward journey.
