This is a 14-Day Historic Route and Omo Valley covering Addis Ababa , Lalibela , Bahir Dar , Gondar , Simien Mountains NP, Langano, Arba Minch at a cost of $2,290. Below is the best Itinerary that helps you explore these destinations on a safari starting from Entebbe International Airport.
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day to rest and acclimate to your new surroundings.
Day 2: Addis Ababa City Tour
After breakfast, you will start your city tour of Addis Ababa. The tour will include a visit to the National Museum, where you can see the famous fossil of Lucy, the oldest known hominid in the world. You will also visit the Ethnographic Museum, St. George Cathedral, Mount Entoto, and Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa.
Day 3: Fly to Lalibela
After breakfast, you will fly to Lalibela, one of Ethiopia's most famous destinations. Lalibela is known for its 11 rock-hewn churches, which are carved out of solid rock and date back to the 12th century. You will spend the day exploring the churches, including the iconic Church of St. George.
Day 4: Lalibela
Today you will continue exploring Lalibela, visiting the remaining rock-hewn churches, including Bete Maryam, Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Giyorgis, and others. You will also have time to explore the town and its markets.
Day 5: Fly to Bahir Dar
After breakfast, you will fly to Bahir Dar, a beautiful city on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, you will visit the Blue Nile Falls, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Africa.
Day 6: Bahir Dar and Lake Tana
Today you will take a boat trip on Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia, and visit some of the monasteries located on the islands in the lake. You will also visit the city of Bahir Dar and its markets.
Day 7: Drive to Gondar
After breakfast, you will drive to Gondar, the former capital of Ethiopia. In Gondar, you will visit the Royal Enclosure, which contains several castles and palaces built by Emperor Fasilidas and his successors in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Day 8: Simien Mountains National Park
Today you will drive to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. You will have the opportunity to hike in the park and see the endemic gelada baboons.
Day 9: Simien Mountains National Park
Today you will have a full day to explore Simien Mountains National Park. You will hike to Chennek, where you can see the endangered Ethiopian wolf, and enjoy stunning views of the mountains and valleys.
Day 10: Drive to Langano
After breakfast, you will drive to Langano, a popular resort town on the shores of Lake Langano. You will have the rest of the day to relax on the beach, swim in the lake, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Day 11: Arba Minch
After breakfast, you will drive to Arba Minch, a city located at the crossroads of two large lakes, Abaya and Chamo. In Arba Minch, you will visit the Dorze village, known for its unique architecture and weaving.
Day 12: Arba Minch and Lake Chamo
Today you will take a boat trip on Lake Chamo, where you can see crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birds. You will also visit the Nechisar National Park, where you can see zebras, gazelles, and other wildlife.
Day 13: Drive to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, you will drive back to Addis Ababa. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore the city and do some last-minute shopping.
Day 14: Departure
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
