14-Day Chimps, Katavi & Kipunji: Unveiling the Wonders of Tanzania's Wildlife


Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will assist you with the immigration and customs procedures. You will then be transferred to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2: Entebbe to Kigoma

In the morning, you will take a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kigoma, a town located on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and rest. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the local area and preparing for the upcoming adventure.

Day 3: Kigoma to Mahale Mountains National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on a boat journey across Lake Tanganyika to Mahale Mountains National Park. This park is renowned for its population of chimpanzees, and you will have the opportunity to trek and observe these amazing primates in their natural habitat. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mahale Mountains National Park

Spend the day exploring Mahale Mountains National Park. Besides chimpanzees, the park is home to a variety of wildlife species, including elephants, buffalos, and various species of primates. Take guided nature walks, go bird watching, or simply relax on the beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Tanganyika. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Mahale Mountains National Park to Kigoma

After breakfast, take a boat ride back to Kigoma. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation. Take the rest of the day to explore Kigoma town or relax by the lake.

Day 6: Kigoma to Gombe National Park

Today, you will embark on a boat journey to Gombe National Park, another renowned chimpanzee sanctuary. Enjoy a thrilling chimpanzee trekking experience and observe these incredible creatures up close. Explore the park's lush forests and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Tanganyika. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Gombe National Park

Spend the day exploring Gombe National Park. Apart from chimpanzees, the park is home to various bird species and other primates, such as red colobus monkeys. Take guided nature walks, hike to waterfalls, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this pristine park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Gombe to Katavi National Park

After breakfast, you will take a boat ride back to Kigoma and then continue by road to Katavi National Park. This remote and untouched wilderness is known for its abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, hippos, and crocodiles. Enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9-10: Katavi National Park

Spend two full days exploring the vast plains and wildlife-rich areas of Katavi National Park. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, guided bush walks, and witness the incredible wildlife interactions in this pristine ecosystem. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Katavi to Sumbawanga

After breakfast, depart Katavi National Park and head towards Sumbawanga, a bustling town located in western Tanzania. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the local markets and interacting with the friendly locals.

Day 12: Sumbawanga to Mt Rungwe

Today, you will embark on a scenic drive to Mt Rungwe, an extinct volcano located in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. Enjoy a hike to the summit, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and the nearby Lake Nyasa. After the hike, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: Mt Rungwe

Spend the day exploring the beautiful surroundings of Mt Rungwe. Enjoy bird watching, nature walks, or simply relax in the tranquility of this stunning location. Visit nearby waterfalls or explore the lush forests, home to a variety of plant and animal species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 14: Departure from Entebbe

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to Tanzania with unforgettable memories of your Chimps, Katavi, and Kipunji adventure.
