12-Day Ethiopian Mammal Watching Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa

Welcome to Ethiopia! Upon your arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Take the day to relax and acclimate to the altitude.

Day 2: Addis Ababa City Tour

Embark on a guided city tour of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Visit landmarks such as the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the bustling Mercato. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the city at your own pace.

Day 3-4: Simien Mountains National Park

Head to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. Spend two days exploring the park, searching for endemic Ethiopian mammals such as the Ethiopian wolf, Gelada baboon, and Walia ibex. Enjoy breathtaking views of the jagged peaks and deep gorges.

Day 5: Awash National Park

Travel to Awash National Park, located in the Great Rift Valley. This park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including oryx, gazelles, dik-diks, and baboons. Enjoy game drives and nature walks as you search for the park's resident mammals. Visit the beautiful Awash Falls, a highlight of the park.

Day 6: Aledeghi and Langano

Embark on a journey to Aledeghi, a small town known for its lush landscapes and wildlife. Take a walk through the surrounding area, keeping an eye out for various mammal species. Later, drive to Lake Langano, where you can relax on the shores of this stunning freshwater lake.

Day 7: Senkele Sanctuary

Visit Senkele Sanctuary, a protected area dedicated to the preservation of the endangered Swayne's hartebeest. Explore the sanctuary on foot or by vehicle, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who will help you spot other mammal species like warthogs, oribi, and gazelles.

Day 8-9: Bale Mountains National Park

Continue your journey to Bale Mountains National Park, one of the best places for mammal watching in Ethiopia. Spend two days exploring the park's diverse ecosystems, ranging from high-altitude moorlands to deep valleys. Look out for mammals such as Ethiopian wolves, mountain nyala, and Menelik's bushbuck.

Day 10-12: Addis Ababa and Departure

Return to Addis Ababa for your final days in Ethiopia. Take the opportunity to visit any missed attractions or enjoy some leisure time in the city. On the last day, our representative will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Ethiopian mammal watching tour.
