Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. You can rest and relax after your flight or explore the city on your own.
Day 2: Addis Ababa City Tour
After breakfast, you will start your city tour of Addis Ababa. You will visit the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Merkato, Africa's largest open-air market. In the afternoon, you will visit the Entoto Mountains for a panoramic view of the city.
Day 3: Fly to Bahir Dar
After breakfast, you will take a flight to Bahir Dar. Upon arrival, you will visit the Blue Nile Falls and take a boat ride on Lake Tana to visit the ancient island monasteries.
Day 4: Drive to Simien Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to the Simien Mountains National Park. On the way, you will see stunning views of the Ethiopian highlands and stop at the small town of Debark to obtain permits for the park. You will arrive at your lodge in the afternoon.
Day 5: Trekking in the Simien Mountains
After breakfast, you will start your trek in the Simien Mountains. You will see stunning views, endemic wildlife such as the Gelada baboon, and hike to the top of Bwahit Mountain, the second-highest peak in Ethiopia.
Day 6: Trekking in the Simien Mountains
After breakfast, you will continue your trek in the Simien Mountains. You will see more wildlife, such as the Ethiopian wolf and the Walia ibex, and hike to the Chennek campsite.
Day 7: Drive to Axum
After breakfast, you will drive to Axum, the ancient capital of Ethiopia. You will visit the famous stelae, the ruins of the palace of the Queen of Sheba, and the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, which is said to contain the original Ark of the Covenant.
Day 8: Drive to Gheralta
After breakfast, you will drive to Gheralta, an area famous for its rock-hewn churches. You will visit the churches of Abuna Yemata Guh and Maryam Korkor.
Day 9: Gheralta Rock Churches
After breakfast, you will visit more rock-hewn churches in Gheralta, including the churches of Abreha we Atsbeha and Wukro Chirkos.
Day 10: Drive back to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, you will drive back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner with traditional Ethiopian food and music.
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
